Just came back from Marshalling my first game session of Classic Deadlands in – well in too long. Bits were rocky, as I’m a bit rusty and I didn’t have near the preparation time I wanted – but I have to admit: It felt gooooood. I’ve always loved Deadlands, the whole perfect storm of bones, cards, poker chips and Western accents of varying degrees has always held a special place for me. A while back we tried a single session of Savage Worlds Deadlands, and it just didn’t feel “right” to me. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I think it has to do with the minimalistic character designs in the system. Classic Deadlands Edges and Hindrances just ooze with flavor, this time around just looking through that chapter helped some people new to the setting really find their character’s “place” when they were kind of wandering aimlessly.

Here’s to what hopes to be a great campaign and some cool roleplaying!

Cheers,

Mark “Biz”
